In an academic initiative that embodiesAl-Mansour University College’s vision to enhance constitutional awareness among its students and deepen their understanding of the relationship between modern legal texts and the requirements of comprehensive development, the Law Department organized a student workshop titled “Simulation Between the Texts of the 2005 Constitution and Sustainable Development Principles.” During the event, students presented robust analyses linking the Iraqi constitutional framework with the global system of sustainable development.

The workshop was attended by the Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Abdul Sattar Shaker Salman, reaffirming the College Deanship’s interest in and continuous support for academic activities that elevate the students' intellectual and research standards.

The workshop addressed how the 2005 Constitution embodies a comprehensive vision for the future of the state and society by including principles of justice, equality, environmental protection, and human rights guarantees. This aligns clearly with the pillars of sustainable development, which seek to achieve a balance between current needs and the rights of future generations.

The workshop supervisors posed a pivotal critical question to the students: “Is it sufficient for constitutions to merely stipulate sustainable development principles for them to become a tangible reality?” This opened the door to in-depth discussions regarding the role of legislation and public policies in transforming constitutional principles into practical practices that leave an impact on society.

The workshop was supervised by Asst. Lecturer Sawsan Khairy Abdullah and Asst. Lecturer Shahad Salah, with the participation of a group of third- and fourth-year students. They presented advanced analytical insights and practical examples that enriched the dialogue and demonstrated their growing legal awareness.

This workshop falls within the strategy of the Law Department at Al-Mansour University College, aimed at enhancing students' skills in constitutional analysis and connecting academic knowledge with national and global issues. Through this, the College continues to fulfill its role as a scientific platform that cultivates a generation of legal professionals possessing critical awareness and a sense of responsibility toward their society and the future of the state.
